Birthday Pictures

I haven't had much time to blog lately.  Even though my 35th birthday has past and I would love to write down every detail, I just don't have the energy. Sad. Instead, this will be a picture blog of some of the things we did on my birthday!

We went to the Perot Nature & Science Museum.

It's D-Rex with T-Rex!

He was having so much fun......

We then went to the special exhibit at the museum.  The Sherlock Holmes experience.

Homemade Cheez-Its

I saw this recipe on Pinterest and it looked so simple I had to try.  Now I know it's impossible for anything to taste as good as the original Cheez-It.  These tasted more like just a good cheese snack.  Not a Cheez-It.  None the less, it was easy to make!  Anything that you can do while home alone with a 12 week old baby is an easy recipe.  Amiright?!

The recipe itself is hyperlinked above, but here it is again: http://www.wheelndealmama.com/homemade-cheez-its-recipe/

You will need cheese, salt, butter, flour, water and shortening.

Mix the cheese, butter and shortening together.

It gets all crumbly.

Add the flour and it gets even more crumbly!

Add in your water and it slowly turns into a ball of dough.

Ball up the dough and wrap in Saran wrap.  Place in fridge for at least an hour.
Time Out: The recipe says to roll out and place on parchment paper.  I didn't have any so I didn't use any.  Life moved on and we all survived.

Roll out dough......

Super Thin.

Using a pastry cutter or in my case, a pizza slicer, and make a rectangle.

Then make your squares and holes.

Place on cooking sheet and bake!

Annnnnd they are done!

Homemade Cheez-its. They only stay fresh for about 2 days.  They were fun to make and I'll probably make them again as a party snack!

Super Bowl Sunday

As tragic as it is, the Dallas Cowboys didn't make it to the Super Bowl this year.  They had a wonderful season and it would have been amazing if they had.  But they didn't.

Regardless, we still enjoy a good football game.  With the house still in boxes, the idea of a party was out of the question.  Instead, we dressed up Dexter in his finest football outfit (that fit him) and made some chili.  Our expecting friends Derek and Kacie joined us for the events.  Although, Kacie and I mainly just talked about how our sons will be play and such.

Football Butt!

Already working on stereotypes.

Chili Time! First time with a gas stove....we are in cooking love.

I made grilled cheese sticks!

Mmmmmm, grilled cheese.
It was a great Super Bowl and very low key.  We are planning on having our big Welcome to our Home party St. Patrick's Day.  Our lives are very much invested in that holiday.  Everything important has happened on that day.  First date, engagement, found out we were prego, etc.  March 17th is our lucky day.

I'm looking forward to getting back to cooking and blogging about my dishes.  I have had great designs on this kitchen and I don't plan on letting it go to waste.
