Vegas in June!

We took our annual trip to Vegas last week.  It was so much fun!  And very very hot.  Boy was it a heater, but we made the best of it.  Here are some pictures of our trip.

My Money!  Came back with $200, not bad.
Nine Fine Irishman - This is where we had our wedding reception in 2011

Guinness Pint at NFI

Mimosa Brunch in Paris at Le Cafe!

Paris - Our Hotel

My beverage whilst poolside, totally helped with the heat.

Trying to cool off.  It was 106!

I like this picture, Dinner at Mon Ami Gabi

Preston won $40 right as this picture was taken!

They seated us RIGHT next to the french bakery at brunch.  Those pastries didn't have a chance.

The infamous Eiffel Tower drink!!

Pretty good show!

Dinner menu at Battisa's.  We highly recommend this hole in the wall.

Our wedding chapel!!  This was our first time back.

awwwwwwwww, we were so happy to take this picture.

Finally....the best picture of the trip.  This is Chester, the coolest cat on the  Vegas Strip.

Best Out of Office

I sent an email today at work and got a very odd Out of Office.  It looked a little something like this:

From: Person
To: Sarah Sherrell
Subject: Out of Office: My original subject line
A
____________________________________________________________________________

That's it.  That is all it said.  A.  What does that even mean?  I showed it to my coworker and she also was confused.  We both tried to figure out what it meant.  She decided it meant they said, "Boom! (hits A on key board dramatically) I'm out of office!"  We laughed about that for awhile.  Reenacting the scene.  Oh...that was fun.  About 30 mins went by and I was still wondering, what does this even mean?  How did the person even "accidentally" create that out of office?  Anyone that has done an out of office know the steps it takes to create the message.

I then took it one step forward.  Literally.  I forwarded the response to my husband, I just had too.  I didn't say much in my email to him.  All I said was, "take a look at this."  Within 5 mins a got a reply back from him.

"Looks like the mystery of Pretty Little Liars has been solved."

I am not even kidding when I tell you that I yelled out loud with laughter.  My coworker immediately was alarmed.  "What! What's wrong?"  That was the ultimate best email I have gotten to date of his emails to me. You see if you watch the show Pretty Little Liars (PLL), the whole mystery about it is who is A.  A signs all the letters and death threats with just that...A.  A will say things like, "You think you know...but this has only just started. -A".  Preston is not a fan of the show, but is forced to watch it sometimes.  I read the books first and told him all about it so when I found out it was becoming a TV show he was really thrilled.  He's a trooper about it though and I DVR a lot of them so he doesn't really have to watch them, but his response was very impressive!  I didn't even think about that and I loved those books.

I wish I could print out the email and put it on my wall at work as a reminder, but I can't because the person who sent the Out of Office might see it and then it's just awkward.  But none the less, a GREAT email.

Dayz of Summer

On Monday's I typically go to the gym and do 45 mins on the elliptical.  Today though, my friend Summer asked if I would like to go walking with her on the Katy Trail!  Why yes....yes I would.  At 5pm we changed our clothes and headed out there.  First I want to give you an imagine of how this worked.  Let's look at the facts:

1. On Monday's I typically go to the gym. That means INSIDE.
2. Today is Monday.
3. I packed yoga PANTS.

oh yeah!  I almost forgot item number 4.

4. The heat index today was 103 degrees. You read that correctly.  One hundred and three degrees.

For numerous obvious reasons it wasn't the smartest thing for anyone to go outside in that heat in wool tights, but I really wanted to go!  So I put on my yoga pants, which might have been wool tights, my t-shirt and Summer and I headed out to the trail.  Our office building backs up to the trial which is really nice AND the city of Dallas was kind enough to approve our construction request and let us build a gate with a secure code so we can just walk right out our parking garage and on to our trail! I was smart enough to bring 2 bottles of water with me and thank goodness I did.  There was a nice breeze and the trail has some good shade spots, but after a mile and a half I was starting to feel my wool tights.  I wanted to rip off those damn things!  I would have had I not been wearing my thong with little palm trees.  You know I would have right?  It was totally the palm trees that stopped me.  Anyway, I finished 1 bottle of water and turned back for the walk home.

Summer seems to be immune to the 103 heat index which made me wonder, is it because her name is Summer?  Does the heat know that she is one of them?  I suspect so because she doesn't even look like she is bothered by the heat.  Don't get me wrong....I had a great time talking with her.  In fact we talked about doing this every Monday.  I really enjoyed it though.  Being out in the fresh 103 degree air and breathing in the fire air. It's only June 11th people.  The Dayz of Summer are here.  It's only going to get hotter and next time, I will leave those wool tights at home.

Got a Secret!

Tomorrow is the big day!  Pretty Little Liars is back on the air.  A show alllll about secrets.  Sorry if I let you down in thinking I, myself, had a secret.  But the opening song to Pretty Little Liars says the lyrics, "got a secret can you keep it......lock it in my pocket take this one to the grave"  or something like that.  Anyway, the show comes back tomorrow and I'm excited.

I'm also excited about this new trail Preston and I found on Sunday over by White Rock Lake.  It's very close to the spillway, but it's a nature hiking trail!  Completely in the depths of the woods.  Enough that I was a little freaked out a couple of times.  You would have no idea that you were in the middle of Dallas, TX.  At one point we got to a crossroads.  We stepped into an opening and there were paths in 3 directions, which way do we go?  One to the left, one to the right, or the one straight ahead with a fallen tree laying across the path. ::black stare for answer::  Now I have seen enough scary movies in my lifetime to know that you DON'T pick the path that has the fallen tree laying across the path.  But Preston saw that as an invitation.  "Are you kidding?" I stood there looking at him straight out of a movie scene.  He started walking towards the path.  "Preston, no.  I know you have seen enough movies to know that is a bad idea!!  I'm not going that way."  He laughed at me and said it was fine, it will be an adventure.  Ugh - "that is also what they always say."  This was not going well.

I stood there with him in front of the tree trunk trying to talk him out of stepping over it, but I lost.  He took a step over the trunk.  I swear I heard the breeze blow through the leaves and a crow caed (how do you spell that? the crow said, "ca ca" but in past tense.) He basically unlocked the gateway.  "Great." I said and threw up my arms, "you did it now!" So I stepped over the death log and followed him.  Not far after we were down the path a lizard appeared on the side of the path.  I didn't like that.  I kept telling Preston we had to go back or this was how we were going to die.  Finally after the brush was reaching into the path and trying to drag us away he finally agreed to stop the Horror film and go back.  Thank goodness!  Dodged that blockbuster bullet.  But I have to admit, I wouldn't completely be opposed to that being how we go.  They would have made a really good show about it on A&E or Lifetime.

Anyway, the point is we made it out of the death log path and on to the others to explore.  We are going back soon with bottled water and a picnic lunch.  Preston says to eat lunch, I say to survive when we fall into the old man Johnson mine that the city didn't know was out there.

My only regret was that I didn't have my phone to take pictures of this place.  Of course I'm sure there is no service out there, but at least I would have had something to have fun cute photos of to drop as we ran from the chupacabra.  Then someone would have found the phone, viewed the pictures.  I could just keep going on and on about the perfectness of this hike!!  I'll bring the phone next time and take photos.

I'm happy to be able to write this blog since I survived.
