Trick or Cheesy!

Tonight I pulled out all the stops and made a gourmet meal. The best thing to make when you don't want to make any effort.
Kraft Macaroni & Cheese: Halloween Edition

I have to admit, lately I've been eating poorly.  This past weekend and week I have dabbled in pizza, mac-n-cheese, chips, and the ultimate sinning food....chicken fried steak.  October 26th was Texas Chicken Fried Steak day!  After looking around on Yelp and reading Observers reviews we landed on a well known establishment called Babe's.  We had both heard of the Babe's, but had yet to make a visit.  That is now over, we went to Babe's.

The mashed potatoes and corn were so amazing I could eat it as just my meal.  I can't wait to go back after we have the kid.  With my sudden change of eating habits, I'm pretty sure this shirt is true. (note I am holding an apple in my hand, so there is that)

Let me back up to before the great CFS adventure.  My friend Summer ran her first Half Marathon on Saturday and we went to go cheer her on.  I ran my first half 8 months ago and it wasn't an easy thing to do.  The training that goes into something like that takes a lot of your time.  We made some fun signs and hung out on the Katy Trail then joined up for Brunch.

I just love watching road races!

Finally, on Sunday we went by the house with Preston's parents.  There wasn't much change on the construction in general, but they did have our driveway/sidewalk blocked off for pouring.

That's all I've got for today.  3 weeks left until our little guy shows up!  Our apartment is getting more and more cramped.  I misplaced some gift cards and about chalked it up to gone before I finally remembered I put them in the pack-n-play.  Because that makes sense.  Strange actions I have these days!

Shower Time!

It seems like time went by really fast.  All of a sudden it's time for our Showers!  We had one in Oklahoma which I posted about last entry and we had our Texas shower this past weekend.  I was fully aware of how wonderful my friends are, but I have really been reminded these past 2 weekends.  The time and effort they went into to throwing me a shower is incredible.  I can't thank them enough.

Our apartment is over run with baby things.  We are happy and a little bit surprised to see that Ashe has no interest in any of it.  He smelled the stroller once we put it together and chewed on some plastic trash, but other than that...he doesn't care.  I hope that is a preview of things to be.  I even put a baby sock on him the other night.  He just sat there with a look of, "really? take this off."  Preston came to his rescue fairly quickly and also told me to remove it ASAP.  Here are some pictures of this past weekend.

My hostess: Kacie, Alysia, and Stephanie

I'm getting more and more excited about having this baby!  This Thursday I'll be 36 weeks. Eckkkkk.  So much to do, I think.

And we have CABINETS!!!!!

We haven't been by the house in a couple of weeks.  Every week we get email updates so we know things have been happening, but just no time to go check it out.  Seeing as there are no lights yet, it's always too dark by the time we get home from work, etc. Well today we purposely got home and immediately turned around in one car to go to the house!

So exciting!!  They have put in the hardwood floors, trim, garage door, awning, mailbox annnnd cabinets.  The hardwood floors and trim aren't stained or scrapped yet, but they still look great.  When we first pulled up we got out of the car and started walking towards the garage talking.  Mid sentence a lady and her dog walk out of our house.  ::blink blink:: Hello random stranger.  She made a face of, "oh!" and quickly turned around walking back in the house.  Okkkkkkkaaaaaay.  Not sure what to really say or do we kept walking into the house after her.  As we got to the kitchen we saw her walking out the backyard into the field.  A spaceship beamed her up and she was gone! Nah, not really.  But it would have been cool.  No, in reality the stranger and her dog walked off into the field.  Preston said that he had seen people in the field with their dogs before.  No harm no foul.  I'm ok with her admiring our house.  ::flips hair::

Our attention then turned back to looking at our house.  We were standing on hardwood floors! There were cabinets! It was beautiful!!  Here are the pictures.

Kitchen Cabinets

Dishwasher and Sink Spots

Microwave and Oven Spots.

Hardwood floors before they are hand scrapped and stained.

Laundry Room cabinets, still need to be stained.

Just another angle

Once the granite is placed, the island will have decorative legs for the bar section on this side.

I really like the brick/stone design!

You've Got Mail! Never had to share a mailbox stand before.....

The awning above the window is finished.  They still need to paint the trim.  You can't see the garage door, but it's up in there.

We had a lot of rain this past weekend so they weren't able to pour our driveway and sidewalk.  That should be happening within the next 2 weeks.  It seems like this whole process is going by so quickly!  We still have no complaints with the building process and such.  Just ready for it to be ready so the 3 of us can move it.  Hehehe, the 3 of us.  Oh' 4!  I forgot Ashe. Don't tell him I did that.

5 weeks Left!

This Thursday I'll be 35 weeks pregnant!  Everything will change and for the better in my opinion.  In case you haven't noticed, I have been trying to blog as much as possible as I'm pretty sure after our little guy arrives I will go radio silent.  Maybe a midnight post here and there.  I want to blog! I want to document our journey.  I found out about a website called sharedbook.com that will publish your blog entries.  Since I've been blogging since 2007 I had a lot of entries saved up.  I figured this was an excellent way to have them printed and saved so I could easily look back and read someday.  Granted all of this will be on the internet, but there is something about holding a real book that pleases me.  So far I have had 2 books made.  Vol I: 2009-2010 and Vol II: 2011-2013,  I love the way they look!

So, with that being said....here is what we did this past week.

It's time for the Texas State Fair! Howdy Folks.  We went with a group of friends again this year and met at our friends place, Big Tex.  He is always so welcoming.

When we first walked up I saw my friend Summer and Sara.  Sara had her back to me.  As she turned around, I was greeted with the best surprise ever! She is pregnant.  With TWINS!!  I loved her shirt.  So of course we had to take a picture together.  All 5 of us.

After jumping around and cheering with joy, we all made our way to the important part.  The food.  The big item this year was Sriracha Balls. Hard to explain, but they are like a hushpuppy meets meatloaf and then mixed with Sriracha sauce.  I liked them, but could only eat half of one as I knew the heat would give me heartburn.  #babyproblems

It was then time to move on to the perfect item at the fair....a Fletchers Corn Dog.  Just look at this beauty.  Could it be any more perfect?

Next up was another new item.  Texas Blue Bonnet.  It was a blueberry muffin that is flash fried and topped with cool whip, blueberry sauce, and white chocolate chips.  It was surprisingly good!

State Fair 2014 - Group Shot
Friday we then headed to Bixby for the weekend.  This was the first time I was seeing my family since we were in Germany.  I was 5 months pregnant and wasn't showing at all so this was going to be a real shocker!  It was fun.  Although the drive down there wasn't.  Bad Rain Storm.  At one point we couldn't see the road at all.  It was scary, but we made it.  Saturday my 2 friends from High School Lauren & Miranda were throwing me a Baby Shower.  I can't express how grateful I feel to have them do this for me.  It was so beautiful!  There are a lot of pictures, but I can't just pick a couple.

It was absolutely amazing.  It made this whole baby thing seem more real.  I mean, I know it's happening, but getting showered with so many gifts makes it a part of reality. That afternoon we did some maternity pictures.  We have only received one so far from the photographer, but from the ones she showed me while we were taking them I loved!  I'll save the pictures for another blog post.

Finally Saturday night we had a big family dinner at my parents.  My Aunt and Uncle were in town from California so it made it extra special that we were all together.  It was our annual lobster boil.  I took some pictures of the backyard of us boiling them, but they are the same pictures as every year.  Instead I thought I would post this picture of the group right before we ate.  My dad took the picture so he isn't in the shot, but still a good photo of everyone.

It looks really festive with all the colors!  Sunday we slept in and then headed out around 11am.  The drive was much more enjoyable in the day time and no rain!  We stopped for lunch and gas, but other than that we made it back to Dallas around 3:30'ish.  Unloading the car was tasking as we don't have much room in the apartment.  We made it work though!  Thank you again to everyone for the wonderful weekend.  Both friends and family!
